MAJESTICKS' FLAGSHIP IMPACT PROGRAMME 'LITTLE STICKS' PARTNERS WITH COMPLETE PE, SCHOOLS TO DELIVER BESPOKE GOLF CURRICULUM TO THOUSANDS

2024-07-24

London (July 24, 2024) – Majesticks GC today announced the partnership between their flagship impact programme 'Little Sticks' and Complete PE – an interactive Physical Education resource designed to support the implementation of high-quality Physical Education curriculum in schools.
The two have come together to develop a comprehensive Little Sticks 'Striking and Aiming' unit of work for the Physical Education curriculum. This will allow schools in England to effectively teach golf within the PE curriculum from year-three onwards and provides the opportunity for every child to access the game of golf as part of their school's education.

At LIV Golf UK 2023, Majesticks GC launched their Little Sticks initiative to unleash young people's potential through golf. The programme leverages its players – Ian Poulter, Lee Westwood, Henrik Stenson, and Sam Horsfield – as role models to develop life skills, and now has a full curriculum which headlines the programme.
"To be able to go from a small pilot programme last year to now rolling out to over 200 schools and impact over 40,000 children in the coming year is incredible and goes a long way in showcasing how important growing the game is to our team," says Majesticks GC Co-Captain,
Lee Westwood. "It's great that our programme is being so well received by the schools we're working with and that there's a big demand for Little Sticks across the country going into the next academic year."

By the end of the 2023 LIV Golf season, the British franchise piloted their curriculum in five schools across the U.K. This testing phase saw close to 70 young people impacted, while six schools signed on at the beginning of 2024, bringing the total impacted lives since the programme's inception to over 500 children to date.

"We are very proud of what we have accomplished with the Little Sticks programme thus far, and looking ahead, the number of children we will be able to impact this year is extremely meaningful," said Majesticks GC's Head of Community and Impact,
Jordan Stephenson. "The commissioned research study by Sheffield Hallam University concluded that our programme effectively engages young people from a wide variety of backgrounds. In addition, the use of our Majesticks GC players as part of the programme enables Little Sticks to uniquely engage children and provide them with key role models as they look to use golf to develop transferrable life skills."

This bespoke programme will be live on the Complete PE platform and consist of progressive lesson plans linked to the National Curriculum for PE. Majesticks GC will fund the investment of working with 200 additional schools across the U.K., with the recruited school demographic striking a healthy balance between primary, secondary, and special education schools, providing children the opportunity to learn about the game of golf, while also focusing on developing life skills. Schools will be given the Little Sticks equipment, powered by SNAG Golf, training, mentoring and resources to implement the programme.

In terms of lives impacted, the estimation for the 2024-25 academic year is more than 40,000 children, with kids accessing a minimum of six Little Sticks sessions across the 200 schools.

"We've been impressed with how Little Sticks has developed so far as an extra-curricular programme and now we can extend this offer into Physical Education," says Complete PE's Head of Physical Education, Catherine Fitzpatrick. "The combined programme means all children will be able to access the benefits of learning to play golf, and what's even more exciting to consider, is the impact this offer can have on pupils across the country. Many schools will also have access to free training, high quality equipment and a mentor to support the ongoing development of teachers."

At this year's LIV Golf UK event at JCB Golf and Country Club, the Majesticks hosted a Little Sticks Festival on Tuesday, July 23rd at St George's Park. Home to the England national football team, over 50 children participated in the event across several schools and community groups.
